About Highball

Highball is a first-floor bar in Civic's Melbourne Building, on London Circuit. HerCanberra describes it as a private, greenery-filled terrace looking over London Circuit and City Hill, with a tropical look and a very extensive rum menu.

The bar was relaunched in late 2022 under Lala Hospitality Group. Coverage at the time listed punchbowls, a daiquiri tree, barrel-aged cocktails and South and Central American-inspired food, plus cocktail classes and a private space called Casita Bar. A 2022 report gave its capacity as 200.

A March 2026 HerCanberra guide to a night out in the city lists Highball for social salsa dancing on Tuesdays, and a February 2026 guide mentions DJs and Latin dancing. Hours given in HerCanberra's rooftop-bar guide (updated August 2026) are 4pm to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 4pm to 3am Thursday to Saturday. Light rail ends at Alinga Street, in the middle of Civic, and City Interchange (the bus station) is a short walk away. Late rideshare pick-up zones are on London Circuit, Genge Street and Alinga Street.
