About Blackbird
Blackbird is a small cocktail bar at 114 Alinga Street, in the Sydney Building next to Verity Lane. A 2020 RiotACT piece described it as a speakeasy-style room you find by following the music, with a low-lit New Orleans feel and a focus on music from the 1960s to the 1990s.
A VisitCanberra live-music listing covering February 2025 to June 2026 gives free live music from 7:30pm, with the bar opening at 6pm and staying open late. It says tables can be booked online, and that the venue does not cater for people with access needs. A November 2025 VisitCanberra roundup calls the live music jazz-focused.
HerCanberra's February 2026 night-out guide lists Blackbird under bars for live music. Specific nights and lineups are posted on the bar's Facebook page, so check there before heading in.

Light rail ends at Alinga Street, in the middle of Civic, and City Interchange (the bus station) is a short walk away. Late rideshare pick-up zones are on London Circuit, Genge Street and Alinga Street.
