About Elixir Music House
Elixir Music House is a small live music venue on Abbott Street at the edge of the Cairns CBD. It programs original bands, open mic nights, poetry and comedy, and has hosted touring acts such as a post-hardcore show on 1 August 2026.
It was founded by Sky Rixon and her father, Bill Shields, and had been running about eight years as of June 2025. That year a community campaign began to raise funds for a not-for-profit group, 4 Hearts Creative Collective, to buy the building. It is a live-band room rather than a DJ club.
