Civic Underground

An intimate room beneath the Civic Hotel on Pitt Street.

About Civic Underground

Civic Underground is the basement club beneath the Civic Hotel in the CBD, a space formerly known as the Civic Theatre. It is a single room for about 350 people, with a sunken dancefloor facing a curtained stage, a movable DJ console, white booths beside the bar and colour-changing LED panels across the ceiling.

Most nights are run by outside promoters, so the program changes week to week, leaning heavily towards house and other electronic music, with nights such as VOID and Sunset Project on the 2026 calendar. Club nights usually run from 9pm to 4am. The Civic Hotel upstairs, owned by Universal Hotels, trades daily until 4am.
